igus advances the circular economy with the world’s first e-chain made entirely of recycled material
Posted: August 15, 2022Categories: Energy ChainsCradle-to-cradle: This is the principle of the circular economy, which is abased on nature. The aim: to return consumer goods to the biological or technical cycle in order to conserve valuable resources and raw materials. The motion plastics specialist igus is also pursuing this goal and has now developed the world’s first energy chain made from recycled material on the basis of its own “chainge” e-chain recycling program.

Treotham has expanded its wide range of igus iglidur round bars with four materials; among them two for the food sector: the heat-resistant material iglidur AC500 and the resilient material A250. The extremely hard-wearing material iglidur H3 and the particularly wear-resistant endurance material iglidur E complete the product range. This makes it possible to mill and turn lubrication-free and maintenance-free prototypes and special components for a wide variety of applications.

When determining if an application calls for a lead or ball screw, your decision should be guided through evaluating the inherent advantages and disadvantages of each. This evaluation process can have a significant impact on the performance and economic benefits of linear motion projects. The first step comes from understanding how they differ. Both ball and lead screws use threaded rods to convert from rotary to linear motion. Ball screws, as the name would imply, use recirculating ball bearings to minimize friction. Lead screws, by contrast, rely on a low coefficient of friction from sliding surfaces.

The Wenglor INTT inductive sensors for extreme temperature ranges from Treotham detect metallic objects contactlessly at ambient temperatures of up to 250 °C. The new INTT series has two new features that make it even more flexible and robust. For dynamic applications in hot areas, system builders can now choose from flexible cables and simple push/pull connectors. The plug-in sensor heads are therefore easy to replace. The analysis module is also located directly in the M12 sensor plug. This innovative feature offers great added value for users who design or operate drying ovens for paint or surface coatings, for example.

Treotham’s new CTS guard locking device from Euchner features a high locking force, compact design and maximum flexibility, making it the perfect choice for applications requiring a high locking force in a confined space. Measuring only 135 x 31 x 31 millimeters in size, it delivers a maximum locking force of 3,900 N for universal use. The CTS can be mounted in three orientations, permitting flexible use for hinged and sliding doors.

With Schmalz’s new weight-reduced layer gripper from Treotham, cobots can also palletize lighter workpiece layers. It is not only slim, but also efficient: Schmalz optimally matches the suction grid, gripper dimensions and all other components to the handling task, thus minimizing the power required for vacuum generation.

Even tried and tested structures have potential for improvement. One example is the classic trapezoidal thread, which igus has refined. Thanks to a special geometric interaction between the lead screw nut, which requires no lubrication or maintenance, and the metal lead screw, dryspin technology promises a long service life, improved efficiencies, low wear and less movement noise.

Roller chain links reduce drive energy for the E4.1 energy chain series by 37%
Good news for users of the igus E4.1 energy chain series: newly developed roller chain links reduce required drive power by 37%. This allows customers to reduce their electricity costs in times of sharply rising energy prices.

Machine interfaces and system components that are connected and disconnected several times a day require high-performance connectors as frequent mating cycles are the norm.
For such conditions, Treotham offers the RSH and RDSH ILME inserts, designed to maximise ease of use and minimise systems downtime.
