Lightweights for long distances

Whether sludge processing in a port or raw material extraction in a copper mine, energy chains that reliably protect cables even under challenging conditions are particularly in demand on long routes, and enormous weights are moved, so particularly high driving forces are necessary. The new chainflex motor cables CF430.D and CF440 (unshielded and shielded) from igus now enable significant weight savings for the entire system thanks to specially stranded CCA conductors. This reduces costs through the use of smaller e-chains and increases the energy efficiency and lifespan of energy chain systems.

Lightweight construction is increasingly important in plant and mechanical engineering as energy consumption is becoming an increasingly important purchasing criterion. Especially on long travel distances, where large systems usually supply a lot of energy. To meet these increased demands for lower energy consumption, igus has developed the new motor cable generation CF430 and CF440 for use in energy chains. This shielded and unshielded single wire offers a weight reduction of up to 40 percent compared to the previous generation and over 50 percent compared to the rubber cables commonly used on the market for festoon or chain applications in long travel distances. Depending on the travel path, cable and cross-section requirements, a weight reduction of several tons is possible.

Optimized for use in e-chains

igus has already proven the long service life in real use in its test laboratory for moving cables, which is the largest at 1,750 square meters: the chainflex CF430.D and CF440 have already completed over 10 million strokes in continuous movement without failure. And the marathon test runs and runs. Its outer jacket made of a high-quality mixture of thermoplastic elastomers (TPE) makes it extremely abrasion and bending-resistant. It is therefore ideal for the highest demands, even at low temperatures and for outdoor use. Users can order these cables, which are specifically designed for very long travel distances in outdoor areas, as a shielded or unshielded version. The cables are also UV and ozone-resistant.
