Man, machine – or both? Humanoid robots are no longer science fiction, they are reality. igus has been researching humanoid robotics for some time and has now presented a prototype of the motion plastics bot: a humanoid robot that combines the advantages of high-performance plastics and Low Cost Automation. The robotics components are available from Treotham Automation.

When Wittenstein developed the Galaxie, they subjected drive concepts to a fundamental reassessment. The result: a brand new type of backlash-free gear unit. The innovative drive system has not only proved itself to be “superior on principle” in numerous industrial applications, frequently making the impossible possible – it has also received scientific acclaim as an independent gearbox generation.

Whether in an industrial environment or in a coffee machine, in order to maximize the service life of a linear guide and to keep the required drive energy low, it is important to reduce friction and wear as much as possible. igus, a motion plastics specialist, has now achieved a breakthrough in tribological plastics: With iglidur E3, igus has developed a new sliding material that has a friction coefficient that is up to 40 percent better and thus opens up design flexibility in linear technology for users for the first time from the classic 2:1 Rule expanded to 3:1. The new iglidur E3 sliding material is available from Treotham.

Automated weld seam tracking in robot welding cells is a complex task in a harsh industrial environment. The micrometer-accurate detection of the guide point with different types of joint by 2D/3D profile sensors is one of the most effective solutions for this challenge. In combination with wenglor’s uniVision software, the new weCat3D MLZL 2D/3D profile sensor from Treotham not only combines the necessary precision and profile quality, but also offers convenient installation, integration, robustness and user-friendliness.

igus advances the circular economy with the world’s first e-chain made entirely of recycled material
Posted: August 15, 2022Categories: Energy ChainsCradle-to-cradle: This is the principle of the circular economy, which is abased on nature. The aim: to return consumer goods to the biological or technical cycle in order to conserve valuable resources and raw materials. The motion plastics specialist igus is also pursuing this goal and has now developed the world’s first energy chain made from recycled material on the basis of its own “chainge” e-chain recycling program.

Treotham has expanded its wide range of igus iglidur round bars with four materials; among them two for the food sector: the heat-resistant material iglidur AC500 and the resilient material A250. The extremely hard-wearing material iglidur H3 and the particularly wear-resistant endurance material iglidur E complete the product range. This makes it possible to mill and turn lubrication-free and maintenance-free prototypes and special components for a wide variety of applications.

When determining if an application calls for a lead or ball screw, your decision should be guided through evaluating the inherent advantages and disadvantages of each. This evaluation process can have a significant impact on the performance and economic benefits of linear motion projects. The first step comes from understanding how they differ. Both ball and lead screws use threaded rods to convert from rotary to linear motion. Ball screws, as the name would imply, use recirculating ball bearings to minimize friction. Lead screws, by contrast, rely on a low coefficient of friction from sliding surfaces.

The Wenglor INTT inductive sensors for extreme temperature ranges from Treotham detect metallic objects contactlessly at ambient temperatures of up to 250 °C. The new INTT series has two new features that make it even more flexible and robust. For dynamic applications in hot areas, system builders can now choose from flexible cables and simple push/pull connectors. The plug-in sensor heads are therefore easy to replace. The analysis module is also located directly in the M12 sensor plug. This innovative feature offers great added value for users who design or operate drying ovens for paint or surface coatings, for example.
