Pneumatic Safety Valves

Pneumatic safety valves are used to control air within a compressed air system to prevent spikes in pressure which could cause damage to equipment and to maintain optimal performance. Below we list the features of the pneumatic safety relief valve that we stock in our Hamilton & Auckland-based warehouses and distribute anywhere across New Zealand.

Features of Pneumatic Safety Valves

The pneumatic safety relief valve is used with pneumatic clutch & brake systems and other 3-way safety functions to improve safety and reduce downtime on mechanical power press applications. Integral air logic is incorporated into the pilot-supply air system which means there are no moving parts. The valve also does not require any external electrical monitoring because both the main valve poppets are monitored on each cycle by an air chamber and orifice - making it inherently fail-safe without residual pressure.

The pneumatic safety relief valves also feature:

  • Internal dynamic self-monitoring (the valve is checked at each cycle for the correct functioning and the monitoring is tamper-proof)
  • Double valve control system
  • Crossflow-channel design so there is no residual pressure in case of malfunction

Pneumatic safety relief valves are also easily fitted into existing systems, are available in both 3/2 and 5/2 Configuration and with 1/4 to 2” port size options.

The pneumatic safety valves conform to EN 692, EN 954-1, BG, OSHA, and SUWA and have been assessed as conforming to AS 4024.1 1996 and may be used in applications to the level of Category 4 (only one valve is required for AS4024 Cat 4, NOT two valves). They are also certified by BG to comply with EN 954-1 1997 (Category 4) Safety of Machines - safety related.
